Jock Lee Henderson
Jock Lee Henderson was the son of Jock Bedell and Anna Rosalie Henderson Like his mother, Jock Lee was a talented writer, penning stories and poems. He was also a talented violinist.
Jock Lee attended Marietta College, Mountain State Business College and Marietta Commerical College.
During World War I, he was stationed at the Norfolk Naval Yard in Virginia.
Jock Lee was known for his keen mind, patenting one of his own inventions and co-patenting another with his father Jock Bedell. Jock’s patent was for an invention of a hair and scalp cleaning machine, which could be used on persons or to clean the hair and hides of livestock. A second invention, a rail station indicator, was created by Jock Lee and his father. They received patents in the United States and Canada for this invention.
He lived in Florida for a while, ultimately returning to live at Henderson Hall where he became the postmaster of the Williamstown Post Office.
When his father Jock Bedell died, Jock Lee and his brother Don Lithgow Henderson inherited the Henderson Hall property. Jock Lee gave part of his share in the estate to his older sister Rosalie McMahon Henderson, who lived on the property until her death in 1966.
